Flying, fire and following up

February is a short month even with it being a leap year this year. However I still have a hard time with how fast things are flying by. It seems that the older I get the faster they go. I can remember being fresh into the Navy and thinking to myself, that my 5 year commitment was forever down the road. Then before I knew it, I was on a plane to Norfolk, Va. to do my outprocessing and the past 5 years meerly seemed like a blink of an eye.

I am steadily approaching July in which it will be four years upon being discharged. Where does the time go really? Do any of you have this same experience? As for me, I am just trying to enjoy everyday life and not get overwhelmed in thinking of the future and where I will be in another 4 years. Honestly because I had no idea 4 years ago where I would be today.

Here is a rundown on some folks that I have gathered from various sources.
Shawn is back on the bike, moving and is staying stateside. MLA is older and wiser and attempting to go see Elton. Em is running around good ol' Farmington and having difficulty leaving comments. Tala is a nocturnal creature. Autumn finally had a weekend off and for some reason showed up on her day off. Lastly and unfortunately on friday a restaurant in downtown durango burned down and took the buildings on either side of it as well. Click here to see the video that the news crew caught on film. Or here for a longer version. Oh yeah I hate spammers that the leave bs comments on here.

More

Well I went and had more sking this past weekend up at Purg. MLA received more presents with her birthday yesterday and a day off. SPO seems to have received some more good news about his short term future although I have not received confirmation on that yet. Em is soon to be having more of N.M. I am continuing to find more happiness and content with my job and my personal life. I hope that all of you are finding more happiness and pleasant things in your life as well.

Here is a picture that I snapped while riding the lift on saturday. Notice how the wind was blowing up the snow on the mountain peak.

Also another as I ride the lift into the sun

I also have to give a shout out to Vanessa "the Perna chick". I am doing some research on the Siren Islands she asked about. To answer her question also, I had no idea they existed while I was in Italia!

Riddle me this...

This will Mess With Your Head.

3 MEN GO INTO A MOTEL. THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK SAID THE ROOM IS $30, SO
EACH MAN PAID $10 AND WENT TO THE ROOM.

A WHILE LATER THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK REALIZED THE ROOM WAS ONLY $25, SO
HE SENT THE BELLBOY TO THE 3 GUYS' ROOM WITH $5.

ON THE WAY, THE BELLBOY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO SPLIT $5 EVENLY
BETWEEN 3 MEN, SO HE GAVE EACH MAN A $1 AND KEPT THE OTHER $2 FOR
HIMSELF.

THIS MEANT THAT THE 3 MEN EACH PAID $9 FOR THE ROOM, WHICH IS A TOTAL OF
$27, ADD THE $2 THAT THE BELLBOY KEPT = $29.

WHERE IS THE OTHER DOLLAR?

Life is good

Well I just finished reading a fabulous book! Alot of you probably have heard of it and think that it is just about his story of him being trapped. That is where you are wrong. He elaborates on his life as well and life's lessons.

One part that really touched me is of the friends he has lost due to the choices he has made. It made me really think of my life and some of the choices I have made. I don't want to go into detail about the book but I strongly recommend it. It is defintely worthwhile and think that anyone can get something out of it no matter what your lifestyle is.

Remember that life is always going to have bumps in the road no matter how good you have it. What really matters is how we handle those bumps and whether or not we learn from them. I have to apologize for the way I have treated some of you, I hope you know who I am talking about. (That includes the former Ms. Bennett) Speaking of her I am really happy for the the outlook that she have been sharing.

Don't forget to stop and enjoy the simple things and the special one's in your lives!

To my friends

Whether you are from the past, present or future. I have to say to all of you are special to me and I care deeply no matter how close we are or are not. There is a reason we are friends and and some of you are family to me.

I lost a friend of mine this past Tuesday. It is very difficult on everyone that knew her. She sucumbed to a "sudden illness". I don't know all the details but it is very sad news none the less. So I want to tell you all that I love you guys and I am happy to have had the privilege to meet you and to get to know you. Make sure that you never take a day for granted! You never know what life holds in store for us on a daily basis!

On a lighter note, things are going well here. I wish the same for you and that you all have had a nice weekend and a good upcoming week.

What a pity

I am having this ongoing problem of staying up way past a reasonable hour. It has been occurring mainly because I am reading an awesome book right now. I have been trying to stick to a chapter a night but often get caught up in it and have been moving onto the next chapter. This in turn has been resulting in me shutting the lights off at around midnight and waking up about 6:30 am and having a terrible time with it.

Friday and saturday nights I was out with a friend late. Sunday I was at my parents watching the superbowl and came home and started reading my book. Monday was another entrapment of the book. Tuesday, I ended up reconnecting with James in PDX. It had been quite some time that we had spoken and it was great to catch up. Now if only I can get some things mailed off to him easier than he did mailing me a shirt a few years back. I will do my best to get it completed so that he does not have to visit to collect as I had to. No offense to him, I am just getting a little carried away.

Well here I am on Wednesday and it is very close to the 11 p.m. hour and I have yet to unwind and start moving towards a slumber. Other than the self inflicted lack of sleep, my week is going pretty decently. I hope yours is as well. Did anyone go out and celebrate any activities with Fat Tuesday?

Up and Up

Things are still continuing to progress towards happiness with my new workplace. I had totally forgotten how it felt to be asked how things were on a daily basis. It's nice to be at a place where they actually care about you and your well being.

This weekend was a pleasant one. I ended up going to Durango on Saturday to catch some Snowdown events. Well Tala and myself got up there a little late in the afternoon, so we missed most of the events for the day. So we ended up just walking around downtown and enjoying the recent snow and the beauty that came with it. Tala even got me to eat something that I was always unsure about and had no intentions of ever going there. When she sprung it on me, I was nice and agreed but was frightened at the same time. As I reviewed the menu I was totally lost and really felt out of place. Tala was a true lady and did the ordering and did a pretty decent job at it if I say so myself. We had some California rolls and some rainbow rolls. I enjoyed the California rolls more than the rainbow but both were suprisingly good. Here I am now 48 hours after the fact and never got sick from it. That was my main worry with Sushi! So yes, I will try it again!

Sunday evening brought the superbowl. I am usually into it but this year I did not care for either team. I watched it though and was not impressed with the game and overall the commercials were a dissapointment. The outcome could have been different and I would still feel the same.

On a final note my heart and feelings go out to MLA as she is having a difficult time with the passing of a coworker. I know how that can feel unfortunately. I wish her all the best though even with the difficulty to see through the darkness of the situation.
