Thanks Shawn

I don't really know why he is freaking out! I mean just like they say the camera adds like 100lbs. or something like that....

Anyways, I get a call from Shawn this morning and he is just full of emotion. He says that he just saw my pics from last weekends cross attempt. He says you really need to get on the bike. Like I didn't know that already. He continues by talking of how much weight I have put on. I have put on weight but somehow have managed to keep my waist size down. I do not know how that is possible but it is.

I am going to get a membership at the gym and get back in shape before it gets to far out of hand. Have a good weekend.

Are you happy Shawn......?

Mary, Karyn & Jena

I hope that you three have a great vacation and a good time back home visiting the family.

To answer....

....Maigh's questions. Yes I can use the Super Joe Daddy and quite well at that. Thanks to 2 1/2 years of living in Italy and falling in love with what they had to offer. Also living in Seattle for a short time and having full access to Marie's machine, but that was purchased in Italy.

Also here are some pic's of my fat and slow self trying to race cyclocross.
Enjoy.

Thanks for stopping by and feel free to leave comments, they are longed for and appreciated. I am off to have some coffee.

Don't come 'round here no more.

Yesterday as I was getting the dogs food, I came across a very unwanted character inside of the garage. A mouse ran past my feet and started to head outside. Just as it was running out the open door, it quickly stopped and made a 180 degree turn and headed back inside. As I made an attempt to kick it back outside I failed but managed not to empty the bowls of food.

I know that the weather is becoming cold with winter on it's way but I have no want or need for a mouse to make it's home inside of mine. So I went out and got some mouse traps and some straws so I could apply my precious peanut butter to the traps without contaminating it. I set 3 traps and called it a night.

As I was on my way out the door this morning, I took a quick peek at the 3 locations. The first 2 were just as I left them. The 3rd however contained the unwanted furry creature. I did not have time to mess with it before work. So I let it sit for the day for an important reason. I do not know if there are any more around but incase there are, hopefully they saw their peer and how it met it's doom. Hopefully they get the hint and look elsewhere. I will keep the traps set for a few more days and hopefully I don't have to do what I did today as I disposed of the creature into the dumpster.

I know this may not be appropriate for youthful or mice phobic folks, but at least I released it from the trap before sharing with you. Also, don't worry about me because I did wear gloves upon handling the varmint. Also for those who know me, I still have more than enough peanut butter for my own consumption!

Weekend

On Friday I had all but given up my plans of heading down to Albuquerque for the weekend. Then I received a call from my brother and he and his family were going to go down. Upon this discovery, I put my plans back into action.

Upon getting off of work, I hurried to the bank to cash my check and then home to gather my things. I am glad that my brother was able to lock down some rooms with how busy Albuquerque was this weekend. It even had an indoor pool hot tub and sauna. For those who know me, those are the most important things to have when staying at a hotel.

Saturday morning was the first cyclocross race of the season and I was a bit anxious. I awoke several times through out the night thinking of it. Well the way they had the classes set up was that the men's 1, 2, 3, and 4's all raced together, even thought they were scored seperately. This would have been fine, but it seemed like everyone in my race was a 1 or 2. I know I am not in the best of shape and the course was a long fast one, yet I managed to get lapped about on the 4th lap or somewhere like that. I was just happy that I had the chance and I did not wreck or brake anything. I saw a number of riders who wrecked, flatted and even 2 broken cranks.

That afternoon Calvin was racing in Albuquerque as well. I was pretty excited since this was my first time to watch him on asphalt. He did not have the best of qualifying races but sure stepped it up for the 100 lap main. There were a number of spinouts and wrecks. Luckily he got through it all unscathed and finished in 10th. The rest of the day was spent relaxing and enjoying the down time.

For dinner we went to Olive Garden and were treated to some wonderful service, thanks to Loren. I graduated with him and had not seen him since doing so. He is a manager there and we were lucky to get seated in about 5 minutes rather than the 30 the hostess had told us. Also, If that was not enough Loren managed to get our bill cut in half. What a guy! A big thanks to him for everything. I also wish him the best with his marriage and his new 7 month old baby girl.

Finally upon getting to sleep that night all I could think about was getting some rest and looking forward to another day. At about 2:30 am on Sunday morning I awoke because I needed some water and water is what I got! As I was getting out of bed I heard the sound or rain coming from my room's door. So as I headed to the door as to see why it was raining in the hallway, I was suddenly sloshing in my wet socks. So as I opened the door, I saw at least 1 inch of standing water in the hall and a large steady stream falling from the ceiling. Apparently a water line had busted. My room was on the 3rd floor and by the time I talked to someone about it, it was already finding itself down into the 1st floor. I am not sure how long it was flooding before I came across it but it lasted another hour before it was shut off and cleaned up. Of course there were a number of guys working on the project right outside my door and yappin' away at the same time. As If that was not bad enough, they brought out a few shop vacs to remove the water. Luckily for me it was already 3:30 and I was falling back into my unconscious state. I fell asleep soon after, even though the work had not yet been completed. In the morning I discovered that the water had reached my all the way to the bed. Fortunately, I had picked up all my clothes and bags from the floor. What didn't make sense though was that my brother was in the room straight across the hall and the water miracously stopped at his door!

Sunday, was a chill day as I just partook in a few of my favorite stores that I do not have regular exposure to. REI, Sportsman's Warehouse, and of course CB. I managed to not purchase anything until I got to the mall. I found what I was looking for and am happy that I found some cafe' cups and some cappuccino mugs at
Williams-Sonoma.

Overall the trip went well and everyone made it back home safely. Too bad that I had to wake up this morning and go back to that icky thing called work.

"Super Joe Daddy"

On a final note, I hope that Marie had a wonderful birthday on Sunday and a great time out on the town Saturday night.

Addiction

And oh my how it is growing. My coffee addiction that is.

As I arrive to work every morning, I am overwhelmed with the thoughts of having to go get the joe a brewin. As I wait for it to finish brewing, I wonder to myself how many cups will I get to consume today. The reason behind that is Diana; who also works in the office and usually is looking for joe also. She usually has at least one cup, but as of lately she has been raining on my parade. I think she is catching on that I am a junkie and I will drink a whole pot if she decides not to have any. I am constantly fighting myself not to go and make another pot after the first one is gone.

As that was not bad enough! The J just purchased me the Super Joe Daddy! That's my name for it anyways. It can make the Cafe' Americano, Cappuccino and yes my folks the Cafe'. Of course it is not a La Pavoni like I someday hope to have but it is more then enough for the present. I am not worried though because someday I will have one with a fancy setup up with a grinder and stand just like Marie's.

No seriously....Stop

I need to put that into work. The reason is because I am constantly finding myself in front of the puter looking at the same sites over and over. I know that no much has changed, but yet I still find myself doing it. Some people sit in front of the idiot box with all their free time. Well, this has become my idiot box. There are so many other ways that I could be spending my time. Some of those could be productive while in front of the puter.

I will try but no promises.

WDTCF #2

I haven't a clue as to why I do this but it has become a regular occurance.

Every time I go to eat, I constantly find myself giving a different name to the hostess to get on the list for a table. I find it fun to do;especially when the people I am with don't realize it until the name gets called. I constantly find myself walking to the front doors running names through my head.

Some of the more popular ones are Frank, Tom, Matt and the ever popular Scott. However, these are just just the tip of the iceberg. Saturday night I was Mark.

Kinda Creepy

Last night as me and the J were out to dinner, I was caught off guard by the lady that was sitting at the table behind ours. As the woman answered the phone, I did not really pay attention to what she was talking about and then her words hit me.

Whoever had called her, was calling to make arrangements for their deceased mother. The lady that was at the near by table works at a funeral home or something of the sort. She must have been the "lucky" one to be on call for the weekend.

Upon listening to the rest of the conversation something hit me. Even though I have known this for quite some time. We need to make the mot of everything that we can, while we can. No one knows when your last day may be.

In a way I was happy. I was on call this weekend as well, but all I had to worry about is someone calling me for a machine part and how to get it to them as soon as possible. Sorry if this is to depressing but I just hope that we are enjoying everything possible. Have a good week.

Pedal Faster

That was what I needed to do in yesterday's mountain bike race. I can definitely say that the legs were not the best they could have been.

Thursday and Friday we had some serious rain come through town and completely drenched the course. Luckily by friday evening the showers had stopped and clouds were breaking up. Saturday brought mostly clear skies and some decent temps. However the damage had already been done. The rain had totally changed the course and not for the better.

Friday evening I found myself scrambling to throw on my old tires, since they would favor me better in the mud. I am truly happy that I did and for Shawn to agree with me. I am even happier that they held up and I did not get a flat tire or have any problems.

I had a decent start and passed a good number of riders before hiting the trail. From there it seemed that was pretty much the race. I had 2 riders pass me early on the trail but never got away from me. I passed them back before the last stretch of trail and never looked back. I never came across any others riders for maybe the last 20 minutes of the race. I guess I should have tried to push it a little more. Considering that I did feel weak a few times maybe it's just good that I had some power gel and that I did not finish further back than I did. The rain drenched course slowed everyone's times. However I did manage to finish faster than last year and one place better. 5th is not the worst but I definitely had hoped for higher. At least that is over with and now onto the next challenge of cyclocross next weekend in Albuquerque.

I am happy to say that the race also was not a total loss. Two of my riding buddies faired much better. Al Saiz, ended up winning his catergory. His brother Daryl took second in his catergory. Congrats to them and hopefully I can be up there with them next year.

I will post a link for the results once they get it on the road apple site.
Ciao

Back Again

I have things back and running after many hurdles that had to be overcome. I will get back into the swing of things and posting a regular basis.

Ladies, don't forget to read what Maigh had to say today. I applaud her and her advocacy.

Saturday is the race and I could not be any more excited to get to the start line. I am hoping for a good finish and the weather breaks long enough to get it run. It rained fairly decent today and I went and scoped out a few parts of the trail. It appears they are much better and packed down better than they were last Sunday.

Happy Friday and I will be getting back to you soon. I will try and throw up some pics of my truck and how dirty she got while playing out in the hills.

Here is a pic that my dad captured last week as he was away.
